A meeting place for domain registries and registrars

Nordic Domain Days will be part of the long-running and very popular Internet Days (Internetdagarna) organized by IIS, the registry for .se and .nu, smack in the middle of beautiful Stockholm, Sweden.

Meet and network with your peers in the domain name industry, with a focus on the interaction between registrars and registries. Representatives from more than 10 registries including .se, .no, .fi, .dk, .nu, .de, .nl, .cloud, .global and .one will be present. Add to that some of the largest registrars in northern Europe (and the world) and you have one heck of an event!

Hang out with some of the brightest minds from around the domain and hosting industry, plus enjoy a fantastic night out at a great location with free food and tasty drinks.

All sessions will be held in English. Everyone is welcome!

The local domain name market

The shape of the domain name market is changing on a global scale with new top-level domains launching every week. How does this affect the local domain name market?

To get insight into this ever-changing topic we have invited the Nordic country code top-level domain registries to join us on stage and discuss what they see happening as a result of the developing market.

We close the subject on a lighter note delivered from a registrar operating in a market where there is a country code top-level domain as well as a new top-level domain that both have the local community as their primary market.

Communication between registry & registrar

With old definitions up in the air, new top-level domains popping up in every street corner, and a global market in flux, most parts that make up the domain name market need to change, or rather evolve. How do these parts, the registries and registrars, change and how does that affect how they communicate and work together?

In this mixed technical and marketing session the audience will get to listen to a developer of registrar systems tell how they cope with the changes in the domain name market and how the communication between registry and registrar is affected from their point of view.

To really get into the subject of registry-registrar communication we will then invite registrars and registries of country code top-level domains and new top-level domains to the stage to discuss how their relationship with each other is changing and how we should work together in the future.

Whois the customer? A discussion on data validation

Call it an ongoing trend in the domain name business if you want. More and more country code top-level domains are becoming stricter in their control of registrant data, of who the customer really is.

This affects registrars just as much as the registry as they are often the party collecting the data in the first place and sometimes the party that will have to submit the correct data after the fact.

During this session the audience will get a chance to listen to a registry that has implemented means to check if the customer data is correct and if not, to discover who the customer really is.

Domain names in and out of court

Domain names, their registrant, and the use of them have long been a matter of dispute. Most registries deal with these matters on a daily basis, either themselves or through an outside provider of dispute resolution.

Domain name disputes frequent the legal systems all over the world, one common dispute being copyright infringements where the domain name is portrayed as being used as a tool for a crime.

During this session, professionals who deal with domain dispute resolution will discuss the trends in their area of expertise and talk about where this specific part of the domain name business is headed. The audience will also get a chance to dive deep with insights on court cases where the domain name is the main issue.
